The Dunedin Pun Battle Championships will be held at Fifty Gorillas on Saturday night. After touring the country, the pun battle hits Dunedin and is hoping to pit the city’s wordiest nerds and biggest punks, punslingers and pundits against each in an intense and hilarious headtohead punoff. With more than $500 in prize money available, you could say that the stakes are punishing.
Crosscultural celebration
The Dunedin Tamil Society is holding an event to mark World Refugee Day on Sunday at the University Union Hall. It is being held in conjunction with the Red Cross, Dunedin MultiEthnic Council, New Zealand Police, English Language Partners and Otago Muslim Association.
Creative Oamaru
New work by Oamaru artists Alison Bevers and Kit Macgregor will be exhibited at Moray Gallery from Saturday until July 25. Bevers’ works are inspired by her early childhood memories of geometric wallpaper of the 1960s, while Mcgregor’s looks at the country west of the Kilmog and Oamaru at daybreak.
