Kitten rescued from tree

Cromwell: The classic tale of ‘‘cat stuck in tree’’ played out in Cromwell on Saturday, prompting a call to Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

Cromwell’s volunteer firefighters went to the rescue of a 6monthold kitten in Ray St, about 2.30pm on Saturday.

A spokesman said an appliance with a long ladder was sent on the job.

And, like all good stories, this one had a happy ending.

‘‘We reunited the cat with its family,’’ he said.
