The Walking Dead leaps ahead

- By KATE FELDMAN

ZOMBIE show The Walking Dead is jumping forwards.

The new season will include a time jump in its upcoming season, new showrunner Angela Kang confirmed at a press event last week, according to the Hollywood

Reporter.

The current timeline in creator Robert Kirkman’s comic book series on which the show is based skips two years after the war between Rick and Negan, but it’s unclear if The

Walking Dead will follow the same pattern.

‘‘We’re working on a season that has a really fresh look and feel,’’ Kang said. ‘‘We come in on some pretty fun stuff. I’m really focusing a lot on the core character relationships in the show that have kind of been longlasting, as well as all of our wonderful series regulars.’’

What she didn’t touch on, however, is star Andrew Lincoln’s rumoured departure. The 44yearold actor, who plays Rick Grimes, is expected to appear in just a few episodes of the ninth season before making his exit.
