Crash charges denied

Nelson: A Nelson man has denied charges in relation to a car crash in which an unborn baby later died.

Not guilty pleas were entered in the Nelson District Court earlier this week on behalf of Andrew Fleming (47), who was charged following the accident in Nelson in late April.

A woman’s 30weekold baby died five days after the headon collision that injured her and her partner.

The baby was born in Nelson Hospital by an emergency Caesarean delivery, and then flown to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.

Fleming did not appear in court, but elected a jury trial later this year. — RNZ
