Defeat in Suva was hardly surprising

-

ROGER Clark says he’s very disappointed that the Highlanders performed so badly in Suva in their game against the Chiefs.

He should apologise to the Highlanders players, coaches and supporters for his board’s crazy decision to make Suva the Highlanders’ home game.

The Chiefs, who are a very good team, must have thought it was like taking candy off a baby.

They had already played there twice and were very familiar with the environment.

One of the reasons why the Highlanders have been so successful is Forsyth Barr Stadium provides perfect conditions for their style of play .

Surely winning games and the championship should be the board’s ultimate objective, along with the consequent financial rewards.

Our coaching staff and players work their butts off to win games so hopefully in the future the Highlanders board won’t jeopardise their chances of success by taking their eyes off the ball.

New Queens Drive path

FOREST and I say thank you to everyone who has been part of creating the new path on Queens Dr from Preston Cres to City Rd.

There are a lot of people to thank — the people with the original idea, the people who planned the path, the people who authorised its construction and the people who carried out the work, who even worked early on Saturday mornings.

The path in golden crusher dust is ice free on frosty mornings and visible in winter darkness. And it is protected from traffic by beautifully crafted reflective leafed posts.

We love mornings on the new path. Ruth Barnett and Forest (the whippet)
