Boycott on the mend
London: Former England batsman and prominent international cricket commentator Geoffrey Boycott is recovering after undergoing quadruple open heart bypass surgery.
In a statement posted on her father’s official Twitter account, Emma Boycott said the 77yearold Yorkshireman had the procedure in Leeds, northern England, on June 27 and spent 10 days in a cardiac critical care unit.
Boycott played 108 Tests for England between 1964 and 1982.
Playing for Yorkshire and England, Boycott was renowned for his defensive play — and ability to frustrate opposition bowlers. — AP
