Review submissions closing

-

LAKE HAWEA: Submissions on the Queenstown Lakes District Council’s representation review close on Monday.

The review is conducted every six years in the district for the Local Government Commission, and determines whether any changes need to be made to the district’s existing electoral arrangements.

While it is proposed for the status quo to be retained in Wanaka, an online survey by Lake Hawea group Keep Hawea Beautiful found 93% of respondents believed Lake Hawea should have its own councillor.

Those wishing to submit on the review can do so on the council website, by email or by handwritten letter.

A hearing of submissions will be held on August 13, and a decision made on September 6.

An appeal period will then be open from September 8 through to October 8.
