Science and art mingles

In ‘‘Art + Oceans’’, at the HD Skinner Annex, the work of 27 artists from the Dunedin School of Art and School of Design and 20 scientists, attempts to tackle the complexiti­es of our changing marine world. The artists and scientists have worked together for several months to produce works that interpret and extend science research in new contexts. Opens Monday.

Peace on the Korean Peninsula

Toda Peace Institute director and foundation chairman of Otago University’s National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, Prof Kevin Clements will look at what hope there is for longterm peace on the Korean Peninsula at Sherwood, Queenstown, tonight. He will argue the US and North Korea will need the assistance of China, Russia, Japan and South Korea to make progress.

The Dragon Princes

Celebratin­g the 70th anniversar­y of the Fire Station Theatre in Mosgiel, a performanc­e of children’s fairy tale The Dragon Princess will be held at the theatre from tomorrow to Sunday. It is written, designed and directed by Brian McCormick.

Celebrate culture

University of Otago students are celebratin­g their diverse culture with their annual Cultural Carnival on Sunday at the university’s Link. There will be performanc­es, demonstrat­ions and food from groups including the Korean Club, Otago Muslim Associatio­n, Sri Lankan Students’ Associatio­n and Brunei Student Associatio­n.
