THE North Island has proven dominant on its tour of the South.

It has comfortably accounted for its four opponents over the past four days.

After claiming a big 3711 win over Southland in its opening match, the North Island team was pushed 2721 by South Otago.

South Otago trio Graeme Hill, Barry Gray and Craig Botting put in a particularly impressive display to win the firstround men’s triples match 141.

They then went on to win the second and thirdround matches 75 and 136.

However, the North Island took an 115 lead after the first round.

South Otago came back strongly in the second round to win the women’s fours and the men’s singles pairs and triples and draw the men’s fours to win that round 97 and to trail 1418 overall.

The North Island closed out a tight win 97 in the third round, however.

On Saturday, the North Island took a comprehensive 3513 win over Otago.

Men’s triples team David Webb, John Williams and Hugh Bosman provided the home side’s best performance with two wins and a draw.

Then yesterday, the North Island romped home to a 417 win over a combined North and Central Otago team.

The North Island made an impressive start, claiming a 160 firstround lead, before North Otago battled back to take wins in both the men’s and women’s fours in round two.
