Paula Elizabeth Duffy (42), of Dunedin, aggravated drinkdriving, trespass, threatening to do grievous bodily harm (Duffy trespassed from Portobello Hotel in July 2017, approached publican and property manager, refused to leave and became aggressive, ran through the hotel, went to the wharf where a commercial fishing boat was docking, yelled abuse, said she was going to stab property manager of hotel, drove off in ute, stopped by police), 774mcg, 7.40pm, January 28, Harington Point Rd; driving while suspended (drove the same vehicle in the same area, seen by police), 12.30pm, February 2, Tamatea Rd, 18 months’ intensive supervision (with direction to do residential rehabilitation), indefinitely disqualified.
Liam Hoggett (26), forestry worker, of Table Hill, Clutha district, drinkdriving — 746mcg, and disqualified driving (admitted consuming between five and nine stubbies of beer prior to driving; said on his way home), Union St, Milton, about 12.40am, August 12, 170 hours’ community work, nine months’ supervision, disqualified 10 months (from September 9 when current ban ends), zero alcohol provisions when regains licence. Hoggett had one previous drinkdrive conviction, in January this year, Judge Dominic Flatley noted.
Zak Cotton (26), of Port Chalmers, disqualified driving, Teviot St, 1.30pm, August 1, fined $400, court costs $130, disqualified six months from December 5 when current ban ends.
Tom Walter Schultz (18), of Dunedin, disqualified driving, about 1.15pm, Brooklands Rd, Palmerston, disqualified six months.
Grayson Mark Bennett (17), apprentice, of Balclutha, drinkdriving aged under 20, 33mg, Clyde St, Balclutha (admitted having drunk one stubbie of beer after work with his colleagues), about 7.25pm, July 23, fined $250, court costs $130, disqualified three months. Counsel Rhona Daysh said Bennett ‘‘very young, very nervous, very sorry to be here’’.
Brad Mackenzie Senior (18), of Dunedin, careless driving causing injury (victim’s vehicle slowed for traffic, Senior following took his eyes off the road and when he looked back they were 10m away, defendant slammed on brakes and swerved to left but hit car in front, victim was passenger in car in front, taken to hospital with concussion and whiplash and spent two nights there; Judge Phillips congratulated Senior on the way he had responded since the incident, which included apologising to the victim and saving $1000 for them), 6.25pm, May 7, State Highway 1, six months’ disqualification, $1200 reparation.
Jamie Robert Burns (21), of Mosgiel, intentional damage (went into Dunedin Central police station watchhouse; after about three minutes of not being attended to, became frustrated and angry; ripped a printer from counter, threw it on to floor smashing it; could not be interviewed due to irrational and aggressive manner), about 1am, August 5, 40 hours’ community work, reparation $229.20. Judge Flatley took into account Bennett not before court since 2014.
