The perfect destination for your next dining experience
RECENTLY opened at Forbury Park Trotting Club, Equinox Restaurant has a great menu with something for everyone.
The new restaurant is the creation of Dunedin hospitality veteran Alex Cherian, who’s been in the industry for two decades.
On the menu are salads, soups, and mains (including ribeye steak, panfried salmon, the very popular roast, and more). There’s also an extensive brunch menu that caters to all tastes.
It’s been proving very popular, with the food receiving a lot of positive feedback from customers.
Equinox has been open for just over a month, after being extensively refurbished. The large space, which can accommodate 125 diners, offered a lot of potential, which Alex immediately recognised.
‘‘There was no constraint on space,’’ he says. ‘‘And there was already a huge fantastic commercial kitchen, so I could just get in and start doing it.’’
Everything has been locally sourced, with the build completed by Brent Lucas Builders, the wooden furniture made by Otago Furniture, and other local businesses involved.
Cleverly, the Equinox name refers to both the equine (horses), and the longest and shortest days of the year, and the restaurant’s branding reflects that.
The restaurant is perfect for large functions, and quite a few Christmas parties have already been booked. Equinox is also offering a prebooked Christmas buffet banquet on December 7, to coincide with the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s December meeting. Book now!
With no shortage of parking, and even a wellthoughtout area for the kids, Equinox is the perfect destination.
