Strong support for Dunedin night shelter appeal
ON behalf of the Dunedin Night Shelter Trust, I’d like to thank the people of our city for their support over our appeal week.
Many people donated their time and money, and this will make a real difference to some of our most vulnerable citizens in need.
The shelter provides dinner, breakfast and a warm, dry bed for those who have nowhere else to turn. Clients are able to wash clothes and are provided with support in finding accommodation.
Our aim is to support selfresponsibility and independence. As well as providing support to those who we traditionally think of as ‘‘homeless’’, the shelter also regularly assists people who have suffered a life shock such as loss of job or relationship breakup and need a hand to get back on their feet.
I’m really sad that we need a shelter in Dunedin for homeless people; but I’m really glad that we do have one.

Fortune payouts
REFERRING to the article (ODT, 28.9.18) in which it is claimed that the liquidation company has paid in full all creditors who lodged claims.
However, there are ticket holders and members who have never been advised that claims have to be lodged, yet email data and lists are available for the prepaid amounts.
The notice to lodge a claim may have been advertised but not seen and not made obvious that claims have to be lodged.
The information of prepaid tickets and membership fees is available, yet has not been acted on, nor has anyone been advised or contacted by the liquidators.
This is reprehensible and needs to be rectified before the completion of payouts.
The prepaid amounts must be there for payment of the debts incurred in good faith.
