Excellent line-up for fashion show
THE Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin will hold its annual fundraiser, Extraordinary Fashion, at the Army Drill Hall, Bridgman Street, on Thursday October 25.
Fashion chair Lynette Grave welcomes the move back to the Drill Hall, and is grateful for the support provided by the NZ Army 2nd/4th Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment.
Producer Victoria Muir, of Sequel Events, is working with the committee to ensure that the 18th show remains an exciting evening of glamour.
There will be an excellent line-up from Dunedin designers and shops on the catwalk. Liz Mitchell, from Auckland, and Wellington’s Twenty-seven Names have been included in the programme, and the male members of the audience will be catered for by the inclusion of designs from H&J Smith, Cotton On, Rembrandt and Swanndri.
An interesting addition to this year’s programme will be garments modelled by eight prominent Dunedin women. Attend the show to see who they are.
Victoria will be assisted by the backstage crew of Aart on St Andrew and Aart Model Management, Ali McD Makeup School, Strawberry Sound, The Video Crew, and Southern Lights.
Lynette said that although the Drill Hall is known to be a chilly venue, extra heating has been hired this year. HirePool will be provide some of the equipment needed.
Guests will be entertained by the Little Cabaret Band, while Damian Newell from The Breeze, and entertainer Harriet Moir will be the comperes for the evening.
The charity to receive proceeds from Extraordinary Fashion is Te Whare Pounamu Dunedin Women’s Refuge. They will use the funding to provide ongoing educational programmes to promote personal growth, self-determination, and autonomy to vulnerable women and children. Skills learned at programmes such as these are ongoing. The skills are taken back to the home, family, and community.
Te Whare Pounamu is very humbled to be the chosen recipient and would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Zonta in association with Mercy Hospital for organising this amazing Summer Fashion Show and Charity Auction .
Over the past 17 years, Extraordinary Fashion has raised over $400,000 to fund programmes for women less fortunate than themselves, so that they may provide a better life for themselves and their families. Those results could not be achieved without the generous support of donors, sponsors, and guests attending the shows.
