Eagles tickets fly out fast — sellout likely

- TIM MILLER

PROMOTERS are predicting another sellout after Eagles’ fans snapped up early tickets to the band’s Dunedin concert.

Presale tickets for the February concert at Forsyth Barr Stadium went on sale early Tuesday afternoon and only a few hours later most had already been sold.

General tickets go on sale at 3pm on Monday.

Prices ranged from $89 for a general admission ticket to $399 for a seat in the platinum area near the front of the stage.

Only the $399 tickets were available yesterday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for Frontier Touring said there had been extremely strong presales and the tickets had sold quickly.

Judging by the number of buyers, it could be another sellout concert at the stadium said the spokeswoman, who did not provide details about how many tickets had been sold.

Tickets were already listed on resale websites, including Viagogo which is being sued by the Commerce Commission for misleading customers.

About 85 tickets were available on TicketMaster’s official resale site yesterday afternoon, ranging from $251 for a general admission ticket to $730 for four tickets at the front of the stage.

Dunedin Venues Management Ltd marketing and communication manager Kim Barnes has said the only way people could guarantee their ticket was genuine was to buy it through the official provider, TicketMaster.
