Village to get aged care facility

BUILDING an aged care facility with hospital level care at Cromwell’s $40 million Golden View Lifestyle Village (GVLV) could begin next year, those behind the project say.

The development of the aged care facility had just been confirmed, after its structure and funding were confirmed this month, Golden View village manager Trish Bulling said yesterday.

The facility would feature hospital level care and include a dementia unit, and possibly also have palliative beds, she said.

GVLV board members were this month discussing more detail of the aged care facility and would release more information later, including how many beds the facility would have, she said.

It would be built on GVLV land between the retirement village and Nichol’s Garden Cafe, and it was hoped construction would start in the first quarter of next year.

Mrs Bulling said GVLV was funding the aged care facility, not partnering with any other company in the development.

The official opening of the Golden View Retirement Village was held last week to celebrate the ‘‘speedy’’ progress on the development so far, she said.

Fiftytwo of the 94 two and threebedroom villas at the village have been built and have occupants, and another 25 are under construction.

The remaining villas will be completed by March 2020.

Some assisted living apartments and onebedroom apartments will also be built.

The village’s lodge, which contains a lounge, dining room, kitchen, bar, library, craft room, gym, swimming pool, spa, hairdresser and relaxation room for beauticians/massage, was completed earlier this year.
