Experience the bliss of radiant energy with Warm and Cool

-

ONCE you’ve experienced a ‘‘radiant home’’ with a freshair ventilation system you’ll never go back, Warm and Cool managing director Wayne Hanley says.

‘‘We’ve installed our eco systems in numerous second homes for clients and they wouldn’t have anything else. It’s clean, healthy, environmentally friendly technology. In 10 years these systems will be standard in modern homes.’’

Wayne has been in the heating, cooling, and ventilation game for 50 years. Expertise in both plumbing and electrical fields has been the basis of his innovative approach and, he believes, a large factor in his company’s success.

‘‘Others are now installing similar systems, but there are a lot of pitfalls when several different trades are involved. We specialise and take care of everything; we design, install, and maintain our products, so if we muck it up it’s our problem.’’

But with the experience gained from installing more than 1300 radiant central heating systems over the past 26 years, problems are rare.

Have you ever walked on a sunheated concrete floor or basked in a sunny lounge while temperatures in the sunless bedrooms barely reached double figures? If so you’ll understand the bliss of radiant energy.

In Warm and Cool’s ‘‘radiant homes’’, rather than the sun’s energy heating the house passively, heat is extracted from the air through an airtowater heatpump — a single unit that meets all the client’s heating needs. The heat is transmitted to water pipes under the floor or to wallmounted radiators. Cooling options are possible from the same heatpump. With climate change seemingly upon us, demand for Warm and Cool’s services has increased.

Wayne encourages anybody building a new house to plan for the future technology at the earliest stage of design, but the demand for retrofitting is increasing too. Because any type of flooring can be installed over the heating pipes, the system suits all houses, from heritage to contemporary.

Everyone knows airtoair heatpumps are efficient. With airtowater heatpumps, running costs are spectacularly low. ‘‘Where else can you get $4 of flooring heat for every dollar input?’’ Wayne asks.

Add solar technology and the multiplier effect is even greater. Although the capital outlay is greater, ‘‘one heatpump to rule them all’’ is simpler than installing multiple heat sources, some of which, such as fires, will rarely be used.

The capital investment in clean air is particularly worthwhile where health is concerned. Apart from being a very efficient use of energy, a quality heatrecovery ventilation system in a radiantheated home filters out pollen and dust to deliver fresh filtered air throughout the home. Your family stays warm while the air retains more natural humidity for healthy comfortable living.
