Kavanaugh a victim of ‘hit job’ by Democrats

- L. McConnell Dunedin

I READ your editorial (9.10.18) with growing disbelief.

Given that we are all entitled to our opinions, your obvious bias against Judge Kavanaugh disregards the facts as we now know them.

The judge has survived six FBI investigations.

Rachel Mitchell, public prosecutor, has concluded that Blasey Ford’s assertions cannot be corroborated; Deborah Ramirez, the second accuser, was drunk at the time and her recovered memory recollections discredited; Julie Swetnik, the third accuser, has backtracked on her lurid memories and is also well known to the police concerning several historic incidents.

My view, shared by a large majority, is that of a carefully staged hit job on Judge Kavanaugh by the Democrats, with Blasey Ford electing to go public to the Washington Post instead of the police.

Lance Morrow of the Wall Street Journal wrote: ‘‘the case against Kavanaugh has uncanny parallels with the Salem witch trials’’.

There is absolutely no evidence the judge has transgressed and, as the wonderful Christopher Hitchens had it, ‘‘that which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence’’.

Still, I guess Mark Twain’s axiom, ‘‘don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story’’ applies?

Now that Judge Kavanaugh has been confirmed, it’s back to hounding President Trump I suppose?
