Bomb squad called

Te Puke: Four houses were evacuated after the New Zealand Defence Force bomb squad was called to a residential property in Te Puke to recover a highexplosive shell.

The 1mlong unexploded naval shell was found on Monday by contractors working at the property.

The shell was taken away for destruction by the bomb squad. — NZME
