Special needs funding

-

‘‘IF a child needs support and is not getting it, that’s not fair and I’m not prepared to tolerate it,’’ trumpets Jacinda Ardern at the Labour Party conference last weekend and then announces $217 million for special needs aids.

At the end of June 2018, Stand (formally Children’s Health Camps) was forced to close the Roxburgh and Otaki camps due to lack of funding despite considerable opposition from civic leaders and child advocates.

Stand provided a complete service for children and their families with a followup service that was second to none. They should now be funded to open the two closed camps.

I am sure Labour and our Prime Minister will not want to be remembered for pious platitudes and hypocrisy. Jim Barclay
