Williamson delivers for group

DRIVER Brad Williamson helped the boys and girls get paid at Forbury Park last night.

When Gore pacer Loretta Franco won race 6, it set off a collective roar of members of the social media group Boys Get Paid.

The group has a following of more than 11,000 men and women, mainly from New Zealand.

Among its aims, the group tries to provide a place where younger racing fans can engage with the industry.

Loretta Franco was spruiked as a big winning chance in discussions between some of its members.

Williamson was pleased he could get Loretta Franco’s nose in front and reward those who backed the horse.

‘‘It was great to see the boys get paid!’’

Loretta Franco was rated well in front and fought off a homestraight challenge by runnerup Hot Starff to win for trainer Syd Breen.

Williamson trained, drove and owned Mr Handleman, a winner at last night’s meeting.

The horse powered away to an impressive fourlength victory to justify his $1.80 favouritism.

‘‘He did it pretty easily in the finish.

‘‘He was pretty wellplaced in that and dropping into a race like that, he could win one of them every day of the week.’’

Mr Handleman’s win makes him ineligible for the race he was to contest at Wyndham on Sunday.

Williamson is yet to determine Mr Handleman’s future racing. He was considering putting the horse on the market, he said.

Williamson starts Countess Of Arden from his stable at Wyndham on Sunday. The pacer looks a solid chance in race 9.
