THE southern hotel and conference centre Heritage Queenstown is celebrating two tourism awards in less than a week, after winning one of the Westpac Queenstown Business Awards last weekend.

Earlier last week the hotel gained Qualmark Enviro Gold certification.

Heritage Queenstown general manager Mike Garvey said in a seasonal resort town, attracting the right team and retaining them was critical to the success of the hotel guest experience.

‘‘We’re doubly delighted with the achievements of the last few days,’’ he said in a statement.

Heritage Queenstown has been operating since 1996 and employs 87 fulltime staff.

Mr Garvey said staff gave generously of their time supporting local charities and took ownership of local cleanups of public reserves as well.
