Supercars to make southern tour
THE ultimate in supercar exotica will be in Queenstown and Cromwell early next week as the Aucklandbased Giltrap Group brings four luxury car brands on a southern tiki tour.
There will be 10 cars sporting Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini and McLaren emblems on their bonnets, with a combined value of more than $4 million and collectively producing more than 6000 horsepower.
Giltrap Group marketing general manager Shaun Summerfield said that four ‘‘hero’’cars — Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin Vantage V8, Bentley Continental GT and the McLaren 720S — will be parked in front of Eichardt’s Private Hotel in Queenstown on Tuesday from 2pm.
On Wednesday, all 10 cars will be on display at Highlands Motorsport Park from 9am5pm for the public to view. The following day, those who have a genuine interest in purchasing one of the models can test drive them on the Cromwell circuit.
‘‘This year we have the most varied range ever, with the Lamborghini Urus making its South Island debut. So, too, is the allnew Bentley Continental GT. Other cars have been south before, although it was a markedly different environment when the Aston Martin Vantage and DBS were the stars of Aston Martin on Ice [at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds, at Cardrona] earlier in the year. That also happened to be the first public drive of the DBS,’’ Summerfield said.
