Toccata on Norma

City organist David Burchell contrasts two of the most famous toccatas — by Bach and Widor — with lesserknow­n and widely varied pieces from 17thcentur­y composers Jan Pieterszoo­n Sweelinck, Dietrich Buxtehude and Pablo Bruna and 20thcentur­y organists Francis Jackson and Frigyes Hidas on the Dunedin Town Hall organ on Sunday.

A Russian Triple Bill

The Imperial Russian Ballet Company returns to the Regent Theatre on Saturday to perform parts of Sleeping Beauty (Act 3),

Les Sylphides (a oneact ballet) and Carmen. It is the first time the company has performed this programme in New Zealand.

Otago Museum has extended its exhibition ‘‘Our Women: 125 of Dunedin’s Extraordin­ary Women’’ until December 2. The exhibition in the Beautiful Science Gallery marks the anniversar­y of women getting the vote in New Zealand with 125 portraits of extraordin­ary Dunedin women. Southern river moods

Dunedin artist Janet de Wagt will give a floor talk about her exhibition ‘‘MARUAWAI: Valley of Water’’ at the Eastern Southland Gallery in Gore on Wednesday. The exhibition features the Mataura River and the Southland coastline.
