To the point
THE photo (ODT, 15.11.18) says it all. Andrew Little — ‘‘what have I done?’’. The Pike River reentry will go down in history as a victory for stupidity.

THE report about the cost of Dunedin burials tells us that Cull and his cowboys are again squeezing the last dollars out of people. The usual DCC excuse about catching up with Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch doesn’t wash this time.

WOULD it not have been simpler to reduce your questions on Monday’s sport front page to one: ‘‘Is Schmidt a better coach than Hansen?’’

HOW ironic to read Euan Thomson
(ODT, 21.11.18) criticising the Rev Stuart Crosson of St Matthew’s Church for opposing samesex marriage, which to my understanding is still the given right of any church to do. Mr Thomson’s claim that it is the acceptable view of society, including the church, I find an absolute hogwash. May I suggest to Mr Thomson that, rather than incite personal attacks, he should look to an LGBT marriage celebrant or other supportive organisation.

SO Amnesty International has stripped Aung San Suu Kyi of ‘‘its highest honour’’ for the ‘‘shameful betrayal of the values she once stood for’’ (ODT, 14.11.18). Despite her failings, Suu Kyi may not be so concerned with Amnesty’s decision given that, in extolling abortion as a ‘‘reproductive right’’, Amnesty has shamefully betrayed the values that it once stood for.
If someone kills a woman who is five months’ pregnant, is there one victim or two? If the unborn baby was aborted instead, has there been a crime committed by the abortionist?
