Prodigal Seelster on the board

- JONNY TURNER

CANTERBURY pacer Ive Already Told You provided Prodigal Seelster with his first win as a sire at Forbury Park last night.

The 3yrold brought up the milestone victory in style, winning by more than six lengths for trainer Stephen Boyd.

Prodigal Seelster has had two qualifiers from his 42 live foals, both trained by Boyd at Aylesbury.

Ive Already Told You carried a rockylooking formline into the race. He galloped behind the mobile in his last start at Motukarara last weekend.

‘‘It was just a confidence issue,’’ Boyd said.

‘‘He does go pretty well. I really like him.’’

Prodigal Seelster stands under Canterbury breeder Noel Kennard’s Go Harness banner.

He has a service fee of $3250.

The stallion had about 20 mares booked in to be served this season, Kennard said.

Breeders are able to take up a money backstyle scheme when they book their mares to Prodigal Seelster. If the foal goes on to qualify or is sold, they pay a $4250 service fee.

‘‘You do not pay unless your horse qualifies or is sold, so if it is no good you pay nothing,’’ Kennard said.

Boyd scored a winning double when Back In Black won the final race last night. Both his winners were driven by Blair Orange.
