ItyGrange’s maiden win back in first grade

-

Lobb took two wickets in the opening over of the game and accounted for four of the top five batsmen.

Former Australian under19 captain Tom Beaton took four for 39 to help dismiss Albion for 156.

Daniel Duke topscored for Albion with 44 at the top of the innings and there were some gutsy contributions from the middle order.

But Green Island made reasonably short work of the chase. Beaton whacked a rapid 37 from 19 deliveries. Brad Wilson (50 not out) and Gregor Croudis (46) provided the bulk of the runs.

The win cemented Green Island’s place at the top of the standings in the Declaration Cup with three wins from three games.

Strike bowler Travis Muller and toporder batsman Tom Griffin led North East Valley to an impressive win against Kaikorai at Bishopscourt.

Muller helped set up the win with a stunning spell. He took five for 31 from 15 overs to help dismiss Kaikorai for 248.

The South Africanborn rightarmer has moved south from Wellington in the hopes of cracking the Otago side and enhanced his reputation with another fine display.

He nicked out the top three to leave Kaikorai 37 for three. Jeremy Smith (41) and Josh Bates (30) put on 51 for the fourthwicket, and Michael Williams added 54 from 57 balls to help his side reach a decent total.

Griffin made the chase look easy with 108 from 95 balls. He came in with his side 52 for two and featured in two valuable partnerships. The first with Will Kindley (58) was worth 46 and them he put on 79 for the fourth wicket with Muller, who added 35 from 47 to complete a very good day.
