Bowls

Phoenix’s Kerry Kelly wrapped up her 31st centre title when she won the women’s twolife singles yesterday.

After the qualifying round on Saturday, Kelly was the only twolifer. She then knocked Dorothy Breen out 2112 yesterday while Mary Watson beat Rosie Oliver 2114.

Watson started well in the final, racing to a 101 lead.

But from that stage the game swung Kelly’s way, as she allowed Watson only one further shot to take the title 2110.

The men’s open fours title was taken out by the Meadowbank quartet of Jock Sangster, Vic Randall, Brett Cairns and Lennie Milner, who in a round robin playoff defeated Russell McDonald’s team 127.

In the second round of the round robin, McDonald downed Will Kingan’s four 225.

Sangster’s four took the title on countback.

For Jock Sangster it was his ninth centre win; Milner took his tally to seven, while it was Cairns’ third and Randall’s first.
