Police seek day off

-

At a meeting of the police section of the Otago branch of the Public Service Association it was resolved to ask the department to allow all policemen one day off duty in seven. This privilege, which was granted to the London Metropolitan and City Police in 1909 and extended to the whole of England, Wales, and Scotland in 1914, is one which is greatly coveted by the members of the New Zealand Police Force, so it may be anticipated that the Dunedin branch will have the cooperation of the other branches in the matter. — ODT 8.2.1919.
