Man charged after hitrun

AUCKLAND: A man has been charged after a hitandrun in Auckland’s Mission Bay.

Police said a 15yearold boy walking to school on Thursday morning was hit by a car that had gone on to the footpath.

He was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

Police said the driver left the car and fled, but later handed himself in to the police.

A 21yearold man has been charged with driving offences.

The teenager was kept in hospital overnight, but was expected to be discharged yesterday.
