Worrying signs hospital build will have issues

-

YET another headline in the ODT (9.2.19) outlining further complications to the build of the new Dunedin Hospital.

These complications seem to be coming thick and fast now, and one wonders just what planning and due diligence has actually taken place to date.

One of the latest options is suggesting the loss of more parking spaces, and more cycle lanes. Cycle lanes that have already been the subject of much criticism and cost. We rate and taxpayers deserve much better from our elected representatives.

We were staggered to read, ‘‘ . . . we need to have a parking plan’’. Surely, this must have been in the mix in the first stages of initial planning. Now, obviously not.

It is well past time that those involved in the build process realise that not all of us are physically capable of riding a cycle or Lime scooter to/from the hospital, as a patient or visitor. Brian Sargeant
