THIS afternoon, in George St, I felt a genuine sense of relief as an electric scooter whizzed past me on the footpath without breaking my legs. As motor vehicles quite properly occupy the centre of the road, perhaps pedestrians might feel a good deal safer in the gutter.

THE problem with the Wof is that it is not necessary and a relic of the Morris Minor era. There are not many countries who demand a Wof. People take responsibility for maintaining their vehicles. If pulled over by the police, any fault means a red or yellow sticker.
