Rating 5980 mobile pace, Addington, 5.52 tonight

Much of the racing at tonight’s premier meeting looks predictable and, to be frank, a little tedious.

This race is anything but. It’s packed full of extremely promising pacers.

Mr Yips, Nandolo, and Smokin By head this talented bunch. Delightful Major, Sociable and Cullenburn are not too shabby, either.

This should be brilliant to watch and a key form reference in the future.

4&5yrold Trotting Championship, Addington, 6.53 tonight

This is the race of the night.

Winterfell and Majestic Man clash for the first time since their 3yrold seasons.

Winterfell had the Otago trotter’s measure then, but Majestic Man has developed into a nearly unstoppable horse recently.

Sundee’s Sun is a classy trotter, too, and adds to what should be a fantastic race.

Hororata Gold Cup, Riccarton, 3.19pm tomorrow

Corey Campbell’s 2kg claim on Boots ‘N’ All is a major factor in this race.

At 61kg to carry the horse would have been more vulnerable, but I think 59kg is a weight Boots ‘N’ All can handle.

Tommy Tucker went a huge race at Wingatui last time out and I am expecting him to relish the step up to 1800m tomorrow.

Anythingcouldhappn is a promising horse, but does not have the benefit of recent racing the two topweights do.

Open sprint at Riccarton, 3.53pm tomorrow

Speed northerner Gift Of Power is clearly the horse to beat in this race.

It is possibly more of a question of whether 59kg is enough to stop her, rather than whether she will measure up against her opposition.

Her rivals are headed by Disturbance, who has returned to racing in brilliant form with two smart wins this campaign.

Those two, with Johnny Jones, look a clearcut trifecta.

Southern Belle Speed Series, Winton, 4.23pm tomorrow

Rockabilly Blues was well below her best in her last start, but has been freshened since.

She looked back to her best when beating one of her main rivals, Born To

Boogie, at Winton recently.

Born To Boogie, Bridesdale Robyn and Davinia Bellezza look the toughest for her to beat.

Rosehill Guineas at Rosehill, 4.25pm tomorrow.

All eyes will be on the The Autumn Sun after his laststart win in the Randwick Guineas. Some even compared him to Winx after his phenomenal comefrombehind victory.

He will need to towel up his rivals tomorrow to earn that kind of billing. But there looks every chance he will do exactly that.

The Autumn Sun clashes with five New Zealand horses in Madison County, Crown Prosecutor, Sacred Sacred, Vername and Arrogant.

SI Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, Riccarton, 4.33pm

This race looks Contessa Vanessa’s for the taking. She has battled it out in the country’s best races against the country’s best horses this season.

An intriguing question is who will fill the trifecta behind her. I like Residential, Flying

Sardine and The Sparkle.

The feature pace at Winton, 5.03pm tomorrow

The preferential barrier draw puts the best horse in the field, Mongolian Cavalry, in a tricky spot on the outside of the front line of the mobile.

Santanna’s Rocket went a big race in the Wyndham Cup, but is also in an awkawrd spot in barrier 1 on the second row.

If these two can get into a decent spot they should fight out the finish.

If they do not, Pat’s Dragon could be the horse to capitalise. He has blinding speed and will be suited to the mile distance.

George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill, 5.05pm tomorrow

Mercy is about the best thing Winx’s rivals can hope for when they take on the wonder mare tomorrow afternoon.

I can not add much more to what has already been said about this equine freak show.

Just sit back and enjoy another breathtaking performance and savour the occasion. There may not be many more.
