Festival to celebrate the arrival of spring

-

CELEBRATE the arrival of spring at the 2019 Contact Alexandra Blossom Festival, from September 2729.

The historic festival has marked the arrival of spring for 63 years, with the first festival born out of community spirit and recognition of the special character of Alexandra.

Those values remain at the heart of the festival, which has the unique feel of a country fair in a modern age. Last year’s event was a tremendous success, with well over 10,000 people enjoying the celebrations.

CONTACT GRAND PROCESSION

The procession is the cornerstone of the spring festival, with a striking floral parade and carnival atmosphere always bringing thousands of visitors.

This year will be no exception — expect even more floats, with many reflecting the long history of the Blossom Festival.

Crowds are always delighted by the array of colourful handcrafted floats as they proudly parade down Centennial Ave, led by the Alexandra Pipe Band.

Children play a big part in the parade, either on the floats, or walking behind and alongside their group’s entry, joining community groups, sports teams, and service groups.
