Queenstown District Court
JACK Edwin Rigby (28) successfully applied in the Queenstown District Court this week for a communitybased sentence instead of a driving disqualification after being convicted on May 13 of driving with a sustained loss of traction, on December 15 last year, in Lake Hawea.
Judge BrandtsGiesen told Rigby he had decided by a ‘‘fine margin’’ not to disqualify him so he would be able to take up an apprenticeship.
He sentenced him to 12 months’ supervision to address his ‘‘attitudes to complying with the law’’, and 180 hours’ community work. He also imposed a fine of $800 and $130 court costs.
