Better planning needed for flu jab ‘circus’

-

I, LIKE 90% of the Mosgiel population, tried to obtain the flu injection and wish to relate receiving a very bad experience.

I encountered an idiot, to use the Prime Minister’s description, trying to take the traffic situation into his own hands, who came well within the 2m range of my car, was extremely rude and shouted at me to leave as I was not in the queue and turning left.

I guess it looked as though I was jumping the queue, but the traffic was bumper to bumper, and there was no way of knowing from my view where it commenced and ended.

As there were no police in sight at that time, I drove off round the block, saw the ridiculous situation, hence still no flu injection.

I received another text message from the Mosgiel Health Centre an hour later saying they had run out of the vaccine.

Can I suggest a more suitable arrangement would be to call all patients in alphabetical order eg A to G, dividing the alphabet into four parts of folk’s surnames, which would eliminate the ‘‘circus’’ that eventuated yesterday.

I am not criticising as I realise everyone is doing the very best, in these difficult times.

Awaiting certainty

CERTAINTY; what a great word.

Southern business wants certainty and they are confident they can operate safely but can they give confidence that Joe Public waiting outside will operate safely?

Joe Public wants assurance from the Government who has uncertainty of who and how many may get Covid19 next.

The medical experts are uncertain what course the Covid19 will take because they don’t have the confidence of inconsistent Joe Public sticking to the rules of the day.

Without firmness (which is lacking — give the power to the police and border control) Covid19 is here for a long time.

Everyone wants certainty to plan forward, not just the business community; we are all in the same boat.

The certainty that is wanted is uncertain.
