Time to come together for this most special day

-

ANZAC Day is a very special day.

Although we will not be together at a war memorial to give our respects to our courageous war heroes, we will be together remembering at our homes.

This will still be a soulful, symbolic day under the present circumstances.

What truly needs to be remembered is that the servicemen and women that went away to the wars did not have a home for months or years.

Therefore, to have individual tributes for our service people at our homes, throughout New Zealand, will be heartfelt.

On Armistice day (November 11), please attend an RSA service at a war memorial, if held.

We will honour our ancestors who served their country and we will carry on their mana into the future. Wendy Baker

ANZAC Day is April 25. Not the day before, or the day after, or the day after that.

It is not a day that can be moved around to suit the powers that be.

It is a day of remembrance. A day to remember the many young men and women that went to serve in a war. Many did not return and those that did had their lives changed forever.

To change to another day is a disservice to the families of those that served to make this country the way it is (before Covid19).

It should not be relegated to a holiday but a day of remembrance of the young and not so young men and women that went to serve. Remember, Anzac Day, April 25. Alexa Craig

WHY doesn’t the RSA get every supermarket to ask at the checkout if you want to donate to the poppy appeal (like The Warehouse does), and if you do they take the amount off your card and drop a poppy in your shopping bag? Very hygienic and the RSA still gets its money.
