Thumbs up to caring owners of Oamaru resthome

-

WHILE the focus is now on agedcare facilities, I wish to congratulate and compliment Shelley and Kelvin, the private owners and managers of Sandringham House Rest Home in Oamaru.

At the beginning of Level 4 lockdown, they implemented extraordinary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all their residents and staff.

I understand that they will have been required to keep abreast of all the Ministry of Health updates and put into effect such measures as deemed appropriate while still continuing the special care of their residents.

Now, along with all other agedcare facilities, they face the stress of submitting their business to being audited by the Ministry of Health.

Well done, Shelley and Kelvin. Yvonne Plant

Praise for PM

HAVING watched the daily 1pm Covid19 update (15.4.20), I have to (again) praise the Prime Minister’s decisionmaking.

Her announcement that public service/government chief executives are to take a hefty 20% pay cut must give some heart to those New Zealanders who are struggling financially, socially and emotionally at this unsettling time with many of their futures unknown.

Imposing the same edict on both herself and parliamentary colleagues I know is the only acceptable stance — but how many leaders would have the courage to do this?

Excellent information is copresented by Dr Ashley Bloomfield, who obviously has extensive medical knowledge and experience to relay uptotheminute Covid19 updates.

I am in total agreement with the closing of borders but hope this doesn’t lead to an unmanageable lineup of wary American folk who want to emigrate to New Zealand to escape a leader at the opposite end of the scale. Each day, Donald speaks less coherently than the day before and his selfcontradictions are bizarre.
