ONE ON ONE: MEGAN GIBBONS

-

The lockdown is a chance for those nearest and dearest to finally put the questions they always wanted to. With that in mind, Paul Gibbons interviewed his wife, Megan Gibbons, from the Chain Hills bubble they share with their two children Cole (15) and Jorja (13), six hens, two cats and two sheep.

Who’s company are you enjoying the most during this lockdown — the hubby or your children?

That is a bit of a loaded question. Obviously, you are all important and you all have your uses. I am particularly liking that the house is getting painted and the lawns are looking amazing. However, the kids have been pretty good at getting on with chores and their school work. Overall, the best thing has been the cups of tea and Easter eggs delivered to my new office, so maybe Jorja.

One item that isn’t appearing on our bank statements is? And will this change when life goes back to normal?

Ha ha, obviously it is the coffee purchases at Fluid and Eden cafes. But with a good supply of compostable coffee pods, coffee grounds from

Common Ground (thanks Andy Bay School) and beans from Eden Cafe (thanks Mark and the team), I am coping OK. Will it change when we return to normal (whatever that will be)?

Absolutely — I love that someone else makes my coffee and I’m happy to pay for it.

What do most people not know about you?

That annually I entertain my family by going camping at Hawea, but I really don’t like sleeping in a tent and am looking forward to the day that we purchase a caravan. I have already made Paul take a mattress each year for our camp bed, instead of an air bed.

If you had to compare yourself to a TV character, who would you be and why?

Monica from Friends. I like to be organised, know what people are doing and how that works in the overall picture of what we are trying to achieve.

You enjoy reading a variety of material. What do you enjoy reading most and why?

I enjoy reading anything really. It’s a chance to unwind and consider other perspectives. I have just finished Grown Ups, by Marian Keyes, and Becoming, by Michelle Obama, and I currently have Dare to Lead, by Brene Brown, next to my bed.
