KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON AND THE NETWORK SAFE DURING COVID-19

- Chief Executive

Aurora Energy is your local electricity network owner and manager.

Our networks ensure electricity is safely delivered to where it’s needed.

We say it often but ensuring our network is operated and managed safely is always our number one priority.

As New Zealand is at COVID-19 Alert Level 3, Aurora Energy is starting to plan the work that is essential for keeping the network safe.

We have a major programme of network investment ahead of us to replace and upgrade equipment across our operating regions in Dunedin, Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes. Over the next few weeks you will see our crews undertaking more work on our network, to help keep the lights on when you need it the most.

We are aware that many of our customers may still be working from home under Level 3 and that home schooling may still be continuing. We want to reassure our customers that we are very sensitive to this and when planning our work, we will only allow planned outages to occur when it is necessary.

We will, of course, continue to respond to emergency faults as normal.

We continue to maintain our focus on safety and ask that you please stay well clear of field crews and keep them safe in their work bubble.

If we do need to switch off your power for any reason, then we will contact you well ahead of time.

Our team is working hard to ensure all planned outages are well managed and there is minimal disruption to you and the community.

Our Customer Experience team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so if you do experience an unexpected loss of power then you should call us on freephone 0800 22 00 05 and we’ll get someone onto it as quickly as we can.

Our field service crews will be operating to very strict COVID-19 safety procedures at all times. Please remember to maintain social distancing with our crews if you see them.

We often need to arrange with customers to enter properties to reconnect power. If this is the case then all Aurora Energy representatives are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), so don’t be alarmed.

I want to reassure all our customers and the communities that we serve that we are working hard to keep the power flowing and the lights on during this unprecedented time.

The whole Aurora Energy team would like to thank our customers for their support and understanding.

Please take care of each other.
