Project ‘road maps’ on agenda
PROGRESS is set to be made on ‘‘road maps’’ for some of Invercargill’s most anticipated infrastructure projects.
The Invercargill City Council’s strategic project and funding review document will be presented to the performance, policy and partnerships committee tomorrow, as part of the development of the 202131 longterm plan.
Roadmaps for projects to be adopted include Anderson House, Rugby Park and Surrey Park.
The council will also decide whether the strategic response to arts and culture is an immediate priority.
In March, the council engaged public sector investment specialist Steve Bramley to undertake the review. The goal is to best position Invercargill during the Covid19 aftermath, while still achieving outcomes the community wants to see.
Anderson House and the surrounding park were given to the council in 1951.
The house has been closed to the public for a number of years because of requirements for earthquake strengthening.
The road map proposes the council make a determination on addressing work to make the building watertight, to determine
whether there was interest from a function venue operator and look at costs to run a cafe or function venue onsite.
The Rugby Park and Surrey Park road maps in the review document outline steps to be taken towards getting the parks up and running again, after they were closed due to structural issues.
Plans include getting confirmation on 50% funding from Sport NZ and an external consultant, forming a governance structure and developing a structural report.
The committee will meet at 3pm tomorrow.
