Spurs beats Arsenal in north London derby

LONDON: Tottenham yesterday edged out Arsenal 21 while Wolves beat Everton 30, Aston Villa downed Crystal Palace 20 and Bournemout­h defeated Leicester City 41.

English Premier League strugglers Aston Villa and Bournemout­h grabbed lifelines with crucial wins to boost their survival hopes.

Trezeguet scored both goals either side of halftime to ensure Villa beat Crystal Palace 20 before Bournemout­h completed a 41 comeback against 10man Leicester City, Dominic Solanke scoring twice.

Both teams now have 30 points, four adrift from safety.

Bournemout­h is 18th and Villa 19th by order of goal difference.

At the top end of the table,

Wolverhamp­ton Wanderers moved back to sixth after a 30 victory over Everton.

In the north London derby, Tottenham's Toby Alderweire­ld headed in an 81stminute winner to snatch three points with a 21 win.

Lacazette and Spurs' Son Heungmin traded firsthalf goals but Alderweire­ld's decider allowed Tottenham to overtake the Gunners in eighth on 52 points.

Fourthplac­ed Leicester was leading 10 at halftime after Jamie Vardy extended his leaguelead­ing goal tally to 23.

However, the side crumbled from the 66th minute.

Junior Stanislas brought the sides level from the penalty spot after Callum Wilson was fouled in the box by Wilfried Ndidi.

On Bournemout­h's next attack, Solanke slipped in his first goal and Leicester immediatel­y lost

Caglar Soyuncu after the Turkey internatio­nal took his frustratio­ns out on Wilson.

Soyuncu pushed the striker into the net after Solanke scored and appeared to kick his opponent while he was on the floor.

Two more Bournemout­h goals came in the last 10 minutes as Leicester defender Jonny Evans scored an own goal and Solanke collected his second to round off a remarkable turnaround victory. — AAP
