Drawcard for bookworms

-

Covid-19 put paid to the 40th Star Regent 24 Hour Book Sale in Dunedin in March, but the Wanaka version, which has been running for more than 20 years, went ahead at the weekend.

The Rotary Club of Wanaka runs the event and organiser Mike Elliot said it expected to raise between $15,000 and $20,000 to fund community activities. He was pleased to see children in the crowd choosing books.

One book collector said he picked up a $400 book for $60 and another found a set of the complete works of Samuel Pepys published in the 1930s.
