Son of pioneer dies

Mr John Stirling, a wellknown resident of Riverton, and son of the late Captain Stirling, one of New Zealand’s early whaling commanders, died on Monday morning at the age of 80 years (reports the Western Star). Deceased was highly respected and took an active interest in the welfare of the natives. He leaves a wife and a large family. — ODT, 6.10.1920
