New peninsula ferry service

-

It is understood that there will be an addition to the ferry service on the harbour at the end of this month. The oil vessel Moturata is being rebuilt and fitted up for passengers for the run to Macandrew’s and Broad Bay. In addition the owner is bringing from the north a smaller but faster launch carrying 120 passengers, which will run direct from Dunedin to

Portobello. Both vessels will have suction gas as the motive power, and owing to the cheap running costs, concession tickets will be available to Macandrew’s at 1s and to Portobello at 1s 3d.
