Colourful reception

Hundreds of children and their parents soaked up the colours of the rainbow in Wanaka on Saturday — not only running 5km but also traversing five stations where they were dusted with coloured powder.

The event was the first of the summer season’s sporting events and held in cool conditions. It will be followed by similar events in Balclutha next weekend and Dunedin next month.

For the record, the Wanaka event was won by 8yearold Parker Collins (above), of Wanaka, who said he had been in training for some time.
