Dogs have their day at Bluff offleash area after upgrade
Recent upgrades to a Bluff offleash area mean it is no dog’s breakfast.
Dozens of dogs and their owners headed down to the Ocean Beach Dog Off Leash Area on Saturday to celebrate the improvements at Dogs Day Out.
The Invercargill City Council event was held to highlight the recent improvements, such as fencing and gates, to the only place in the town where dog owners can exercise their pets offleash.
Animal control officer Jo Cockroft said it was a fun day.
‘‘This gives the owners and dogs an area to freerun.’’
Southern Institute of Technology vet nursing students were giving free health checks for dogs and free microchipping. Mobile eftpos was available for people to register their dogs if they had not done so already.
