-

WELLINGTON: New Zealander Lydia Ko was unable to keep up with the leaders at the PGA Championship in Pennsyalvania yesterday.

Ko started the third round in a tie for sixth, two shots off the lead. However, a 4overpar 74 has dropped her to a share of 19th.

She is nine shots behind the leader, Sei Young Kim, of South Korea.

The PGA Championship is the third women's major of the year.

Meanwhile, New Zealander Ryan Fox has slipped to a tie for 22nd at the European PGA Championship at Wentworth in England.

Fox fired a thirdround 1overpar 73 to now be nine shots behind the leader, Tyrrell Hatton, of England.

Leaders Martin Laird and Patrick Cantlay shot matching 6underpar 65s, while Matthew Wolff fired three backnine eagles for a 10under 61 at the third round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas yesterday.

Overnight coleader Laird sits 20underpar at 193 for the tournament as he looks to claim his first PGA Tour title since 2013. Cantlay shot a bogeyfree round that included six birdies as the 2017 champion eyes his third win on the PGA Tour. — RNZ/Reuters
