Rae an award winner
ALLIED Press business and rural editor Sally Rae has won the Rural Women New Zealand journalism award.
The award was established to recognise the important contribution women make in rural communities.
Entries in this year’s award had to include two articles based on the theme of ‘‘rural women making a difference’’.
Ms Rae’s entries were on North Otago berryfruit grower Leanne Matsinger who, since the sudden death of her husband in 2010, has grown her business into the South Island’s largest strawberry producer, and celebrity chef and cookbook author Nadia Lim, who has traded city life for a Central Otago farm.
Ms Rae received the award at the New Zealand Guild of
Agricultural Journalists and Communicators’ annual awards dinner in Wellington last night.
