Graeme Simpson, of Oamaru, leads the fifth annual Dunedin Tweed Ride on his penny farthing yesterday.

He was one of about 30 people who participated in the leisurely cycle ride along the newly opened section of the Otago Peninsula cycleway.

Many of the riders sported their best tweed clothing and spring frocks, and rode bicycles of different eras.

The event started at the Dunedin Gasworks Museum in South Dunedin.

It finished about 9km away at the Glenfalloch Woodland Garden, on the Otago Peninsula.

Many of the riders took a picnic lunch with them, and enjoyed it at the garden after the ride.

The event was held to raise funds for the Dunedin Gasworks Museum.
