Hunt for car chase driver

Queenstown: The hunt is on for the driver of a car who led police on a highspeed pursuit near Queenstown on Monday night.

A post on the Southern district police social media page yesterday said the incident began about 8.25pm when a Honda Civic without registration plates was seen on Howards Dr in Lake

Hayes Estate.

Police abandoned the pursuit because of the ‘‘manner [of driving] in the Kawarau River area’’, the post said.

The car was found about an hour later, but the offender had fled.

A media spokeswoman was unable to provide any more information.
